We don’t throw the term ‘national treasure’ around lightly - so you know we’re serious when we use it to describe Kate Ceberano. The singer behind Pash and Bedroom Eyes has been belting out huge hits for nearly 40 years. But it’s her latest project that may just be her biggest.

Kate has joined forces with a choir of over 150 people to cover the Blondie classic Call Me, in support of the Audika Hearing Care Help Line. “I heard it yesterday for the first time, and the tears were just coming down my eyes,” Ceberano said. “I’m very committed to a community that’s out that’s in many ways underrepresented. “One in seven Australians have hearing problems in different degrees. I think in this time of isolation, and everyone having to take special precautions about how they can communicate with others, it just serves to close down the whole community.

I can provide so much counsel and comfort to (people) - the helpline is open 24/7 and they can ask questions about how they can get their own hearing devices fixed, or they just need to discuss something with someone.”

Kate has also been performing online during the lockdown in her web series Kate and Friends.

“It was my response to the trauma of losing a year’s worth of work,” Ceberano said.

Kate Ceberano“I would open up the lounge room and host these events for all of our friends and artists, to come along and get amongst it and feel that they were doing something to support their industry.

“All of the money we raised also went to Support Act.”
